“Dracula” is a co-production of Aarhus Theatre and Den Jyske Opera.
The team was awarded the AARETS REUMERT 2023 in the category “Best Musical Production of the Year”.
Bram Stoker brought the Dracula myth to life in his famous novel from 1897. Dracula grew up in a time of wars and bloodshed. After spending centuries in his native Transylvania, he invaded London, the undisputed metropolis of the Victorian age. Lucy Westenras and later her friend Mina Harker become the object of the demonic Count’s thirst for blood. Mina Harker tries to thwart his invasion plans and destroy his demonic influence. She is surrounded by her husband, the lawyer Jonathan Harker, the doctors Van Helsing and John Seward, the English Lord Arthur Homwolld and the Texan Qunicy Morris.
Director Martin Lyngbo and Lucas Svensson have adapted the novel by Bram Stoker for the stage at the theatre in Aarhus. Marcus Aurelius Hjelmborger delved into music history and borrowed choral works and requiem masses by Mozart, Fauré, Bach and other great classical composers, performed by the opera choir of Den Jyske Opera.
